Golden Turmeric Hummus

The weather is finally starting to warm up, and spring break is upon us! The bright, flavorful taste of this Golden Turmeric Hummus makes this recipe perfect to share with friends at all of your spring picnics, potlucks, and get togethers.

Health Benefits of Turmeric

The turmeric plant is related to the ginger plant. Like ginger, you consume the root of the plant when you use turmeric. Turmeric can be added to food in fresh or powdered form. It is easily identified by the beautiful golden color it creates in food.

Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin. Studies suggest that curcumin may help to stimulate bile production by the gallbladder. This increase in bile helps to reduce gas and aid in digestion. Turmeric acts as an antioxidant, a compound which works to prevent cell damage. Other health benefits of turmeric include reduced inflammation and lower cholesterol and blood sugar.
