Turmeric Latte

The health benefits of turmeric are now becoming more well-known. This bright orange spice contains curcumin, which may help to reduce inflammation. This bioactive compound is believed to be a helpful aid in inflammatory diseases like arthritis, help in recovery for athletes like runners with high levels of inflammation, and might even prevent cancer with its antioxidant properties. Research even suggests that curcumin can even prevent production of fat, aiding in obesity prevention.*

 

A common ingredient in curry, there are other ways to enjoy turmeric. Here is a recipe for a rich and warming turmeric latte. 

 

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk

  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated turmeric or 2 teaspoon ground turmeric

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

  • pinch of cinnamon

  • raw honey to taste

Directions

  1. Add the coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, and nutmeg to a sauce pan.

  2. Bring to a boil.

  3. Remove from heat and allow mixture to sit for 5 minutes

  4. Filter the liquid

  5. Add honey to taste
